Making structures from scratch.

I am just now starting with railroad modeling.

I am interested in making my own structures form scratch; tressels, grist mills, gas stations, etc.

I have not found a very needed useful tool, a scaled ruler for the “G” scale world.
I would prefer the 1:13 or 1:20.3 scales, whickever is the most popular and easy to get accesories for?

I would use any of these scales to measure and cut wood stock, and then proceed to build my project.

Please advise as to where I can purchase these “scaled rulers”.

In appreciation,

Ozark Minatures makes a nice one in brass!

I have a less expensive plastic one around somewhere and can’t recall who makes them.

Thank you very much, John.

I took the link and sure enough, they have 1:20.3 rulers in brass, in 6 inch, 12 inch, 18 inch and 24 inch.

you have been most helpful,

C.T.T. Inc. out of Dallas Texas also makes scale rulers in just about any scale you want.

They are plastic and relatively cheap. Do a Google search on CTT Inc Scale Ruler and you will find lots of train stores that sell them Mail Order.

Thanks Joe, that’s the brand I was thinking of for plastic scale rulers. I can’t find mine right now, my house is torn up for a roof leak repair. :frowning:

thescalecard.com also makes plastic scale rulers in many scales for the hobby market.
