It’s the time of year when the fields, and ditches in my area are filled with Tiger Lilies. I would like to add some (OK many) to my layout.
Any ideas on replicating them?
I thought about WS field grass tipped with some orange ground foam. Of course, knowing my luck, I’ll scratchbuild them, and Busch will release them.

I have not made Tiger Lilies, but I have used colored plastic clay from Micheals (Several brands) to make pheasants and my neighbor made great day lilies. It takes some practice to get them small enough, but if you make them with the right colored clay, all you have to do is heat them and they are ready to go. We made ours on a pin, which helped hold them while baking and planting.
There is a weed or wildflower (the difference being …?) where the flower is a bunch of tiny flowers, and the parts of the flower have something of the cup-like shape of a day lilly. Perhaps a bit oversize for HO but if painted the appropriate orange color and placed on a thin strand of wire would look right if in enough quantity. What I cannot recall is the name of the plant but the plant head has a lot of this little flower.

By the way Google Image searching “tiger lilly” comes up with some images that are, ahem, not plants! [:I]

Using some leftover bits and pieces lying about my workbench I came up with this:

Some floral wire, coarse orange ground foam, fine green foam, and a bit of ploy fiber. Although next, I think I might try some field grass for the bunch of leaves instead of the ploy figer.

I think you’re right about the field grass!![tup]
