No updates in the local media sites yet. Probably a U of I student suffering the aftereffects of binge drinking in downtown Iowa City, a chronic problem.
[%-)] I have been thoroughly polluted twice in my life (only the two times, thankfully, many years ago), and recall the episodes with some clarity… except for when I was actually sleeping it off. I had the presence of mind to ensure my safety, even if it took several minutes to figure out how best to accomplish it. [xx(] I can’t recall being so addled that I would consider curling up at roadside, across a sidewalk, on stairs, in the trunk of someone’s car, between or across rails, on a gangplank, halfway up…or down…a ladder, or other bizarre places where I was likely to come to grief.
We don’t know from the article whether the man lying (not “laying”) on the track was awake, injured and unconscious (perhaps from tripping and hitting his head on a rail), or passed out–nor do we know what drugs (alcohol or worse) could have been influencing his actions prior to his being found. If he is a college student, he should be made to be “Exhibit A” for railroad safety for his actions, in addition to being a poster child (“this is your brain on [whatever]”) for substance abuse, if indeed that was the cause.
No worse than the man with the cell phone clamping an ear shut against the blare of the oncoming train bothering his phone call while he stood on the track some time ago.
A similar thing happened in Kamloops, B.C. a few years ago. Some drunk fell between the rails and a train passed over him without harming him in any way.
I guess the expression of God looks after little children and drunks must hold some water.
Wow speaking of feminine hygeine products I think our young friend needs to sit back and think about Libel suits. But I digress obviously talking to a 5th grader from his attitude and snappy screen name.
So anyhow we had one pick a train and put his neck on the rail as the train was going by.That was the most recent one here. Also had a few suicides by train, one still a mystery as to who the person is.
