Mantua 4-6-2 bringing big $$$$$$

[:p] Here is a go one for you guys. A week ago I put a bunch of items for sale on ebay in the HO train part. I put up an older Mantua 4-6-2 that I put together out of old parts I had laying around, I still got enough parts to build 3 more, but that will have to wait. The tender I used for the loco had some sort of crude sound device that Mantua used years ago, it operated on a 9v battery. Believe it or not the sound unit still worked, man did it sound unrealistc, sounded like static to me. Anyway I had allot of people with allot of questions about the old sound system, and when the auction ended I had a good amount of coin dumped into my Paypal account.

Does anyone remember this sound unit that Mantua made, I don’t! Have only ever seen a few. But wished I had a few more of these.[:p]

I believe it was called Mantua Syncro Steam Sound. I seem to remember them in the Mikado, Hudson and maybe the Pacific. When I got into HO trains, late 80s, I heard one at a LHS. It did not sound that bad to me. I am sure the sound was primitive compared to what is available today. High dollar back then, it was Mantua’s top of the line model. I do not know if it was ever available in a kit. All I ever saw was RTR.
