I just bought a 41’ Mantua Steel Boxcar from a guy on eBay, but one of the trucks is broken (missing half the push-in lug). Does anyone sell replacements for these? The hole where the lug pushes in is too large for the screw on the extra Athearn trucks I have lying around.
Thanks

A lot of us plug the hole for the lug with a short piece of styrene rod, glue it in with a solvent glue.Be sure bootom is square and flush, [I use a chisel blade in a hobby knife], then drill a smaller hole in the center of the plug for your Athearn screw. The Mantua truck is likely a “Talgo”, with coupler on.It’s better to body mount the couplers anyway, following general Kadee instructions.Good luck & regards / Mike
I did what Mike Meaford suggested for all my Mantua cars of that sort with good results
The original trucks are not good enough to spend much time searching for
More difficult are the older era of Mantua cars which had a very distinctive sort of truck – somehow the bolster height was unlike anyone else’s. Sometimes it is easier to replace the frame and floor!
