Manual turnout controllers

I am looking for options to control turnouts manually. My shelf layout is built upon 4" of pink foam-board so I’ll have to use the bellcrank method but a challenge is securing part of the push/pull sleeve to the foam. I have checked out Humpyards and they look good and the trackside manual ones are too big. Has anyone found the perfect solution for foam board?

Thanks, Brian

Small square of wood, glued to the bottom of the foam, attach bellcrank to that?

Someone on the free-moN yahoo group posted this, it’s in german, but the pictures speak for themselves.

I like Joe Fugate’s setup, too. Simple and cheap!

Guys,

Thanks for the feedback. I do like Joe’s idea the best when I have crossbar close by otherwise I will glue it to the foamboard and use the rod/teflon sleeve method.

Thanks, Brian

Mac, Achtung, das is gut. Ken

Huh??? Lol!! I just saw the link, I don’t speak a lick of German!!! Slick setup though.

Mac

it means something like: “Mac, watch out, that is good.”

Brian,

You might want to look at Humpyard Levers

I use the humpyard controllers on my foam covered layout. To hold down the wire, I glued down a small piece of 1/4 inch plywood under the turnouts and then secured the end clamps to that. In a couple of spots I had to countersink the plywood to make it flush with the foam, but that was no problem. So far I haved used them for 2 years with no problems.
