Manufacturers as research source.

I would think I am not alone on this.

Sometimes what may prompt me to buy a piece is knowing the history behind it. I seldom do research but instead relly on my own memories to dictate what will be believable on my layout. There are times when I see something I like but cannot determine if it would work with the rest of the layout.

I suggest the manufacturers consider showing a brief history and era on the outside of the packaging so a less informed individual can decide to purchase or not.

How many of us have seen something really interesting but could not determine the era or proper use. Maybe I am attempting to get out my homework again but this would help me and I know many others to decide. Think about it for a moment before you jump to a conclusion.

If I were a shop owner, I hope to be one day, I would try to have a history available to the public for reference. It would drive people to purchase more.

Just my opinion.

The reason why I bring this up is that in my opinion if the manufacturer already has the prototype info in order to build the model they should include the info when you purchase it.
