Again, I say: “Wimps”, especially MARC, VRE, Amtrak, and CSX. It’s only snow!
CSXT circles the wagons at the slightest threat of snow. Only 6" was predicted on the RF&P sub, and only 6" was received. Shame. Gone is the pride in all weather transport. Maybe the focus was on WV.
It’s the Washington-Baltimore federal government mentality. I used to work for an agency with HQ in Baltimore. They would send everyone home if someone thought it might snow. Unfortunately this is spreading. I worked for 30+ years in the Chicago office and we NEVER closed due to snow. Now the Feds in Chicago go home if there is more than a few inches of the stuff.
I remember the old days here in New Jersey when railroads like the Lackawanna, Erie, and Jersey Central took pride in getting their passengers through, even in the teeth of a blizzard. The old-time railroaders are probably spinning in their graves…
Railroads are supposed to be the all weather form of transport. They are turning into wimps. Six inches of snow barely covers the tops of the rails. I agree with Mr. Dorflinger.
