MARKER LIGHTS FOR CONRAIL GE'S

I AM LOOKING FOR THE CORRECT MARKER LIGHTS/LENSES AND BRACKETS FOR CR’S OLDER GE’S, LIKE THE C30-7A’S, C36-7’S, B36-7’S,ETC. I KNOW OVERLAND ONCE MADE THEM, BUT THEY ARE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND. ANYONE KNOW OF ANY HOBBY RETAILER THAT STILL MAY HAVE THESE IN STOCK, OR AN IDEA ON SCRATCHBUILDING THEM?? I MODEL HO SCALE BY THE WAY.

I scratchbuilt the markers with a piece of 1/8" round tubing drilled out to thin the outer wall. Then cut a thin slice for the length,(this will result in many unacceptable ones, but eventually some usable ones result),mount to a piece of flat styrene.Lenses can be made by heating a fiber-optic strand over a candle or soldering iron to mushroom the end, trial and error can produce many different size lenses. The only problem is that the lenses can only be about 3 times the size of the original strand before it distorts excessively.Larger lenses would need a lager starting strand. After attaching the marker assembly to the loco, drill through the marker and shell the same size as the original strand, cut behind the lense to create a stem and glue it in with ACC.For red markers, paint the lense with Model Master “Turn-Signal Red” or use a red permanent marker for a more transparent look. Also, leave the optic stem longer, route to a bulb for lighted markers.By the way,you might want to unlock your CAPS LOCK button, all CAPS is the equivelent of shouting.Good luck and good modeling.

thanks for your help! i will try this, and a few other ideas out too, if i can’t find these markers from an overland dealer. or, i could just take them off of my brother’s brass cr c-36-7!!! just joking.
