Recently my brother in law gave me a large box of HO train stuff that was found while cleaning out a building he was contracted to paint. Anyway, he is into O scale trains. The cleaning crew found the box and was going to throw it out. My BIL stopped them and took the box knowing I’m into HO.
In the box was four buildings still in original boxes, 3 boxes of Marklin track with turnouts, straights, and curves, two power packs and tons of other stuff.
None of the stuff can be used here in the US that I know of. The power packs are 220Volts and the track is 3 rail. The track is all metal with an isolated middle section that I assume acts like a third rail.
So what do I do with the Marklin stuff? Trash it? Try to Ebay it? Is there even a market for it? The stuff is in perfect shape. I’d hate to just throw it out but I have no use for it.
Any ideas?
Bill
Marklin has a reputation for very high quality, and they have a very strong following of collectors and enthusiasts both in Europe and the US. I’m certain these items will be worth something to someone.
eBay might be a good place to start looking to see what value these items might have. Search for similar items and see what they are going for. Another place to look for more information would be one of the Yahoo! discussion groups. Do a search at yahoogroups under Marklin to find one or more of these groups, some of which will be in English and some may also allow you to post a “for sale” notice.
Sounds like an interesting find. Hope you find a way to turn it to your advantage.

Consign sell it at your local LHS, if they do such a thing.
what day is trash at your house ???
:O)
Bill: The only bits you need to worry about are the transformers. However, Marklin make 110V compatible transformers. There are Marklin dealers around where you could but one.
If you don’t want to run it, you could probably sell it. A Marklin dealer could probably find someone to buy it.
The trains are not compatible with 12V DC 2-rail, but they are very nice in their own right.
