Marklin HO Track

Hello All,
I have a bunch of Marklin HO M track,and some of the sections have green paint on the side of the metal roadbed.
My question is, were these tracks made like this?

Sounds like they may have been part of a layout once. I’m not familiar with the Marklin brand, but if they were meant to have green paint on them, then all would be green and look exactly alike.
I’m also curious about the road bed being made of metal. I expected plastic.

The green paint must have been added by the modeler. Marklin M track is the multi-color grey on all surfaces.
