Marklin Vs Mehano

Is Marklin or Mehano of better quality or quantity? i.e a decoder equipped locomotive or better shell detail. I am particularly interested in the German ICE and France TGV.

I am inclined to say that Marklin wins this contest, but that would be comparing apples with pears. Marklin runs on 3-rail AC, whereas Mehano is 2-rail DC, which you may be looking for. Tale a look at what Trix offers - Trix is Marklin´s 2-rail DC brand.

Why do you choose Marklin?

… for the many decades of trouble free service Marklin´s (Trix´) products will give you.

Gidday, Ulrich is being somewhat modest, [;)] why Marklin Trix ?, German precision engineering.

However the IHC Premier Series/ Mehano steam locos are not too bad in their own right.

Just my two bobs worth, Cheers, the Bear.

Hi.

I do not have any experience with Mehano, however, with Marklin I have experience with HO (from a friend) and first hand with Z scale and can tell you it is a first class product. The detailing is superb, the motor and electronics are second to none as you would expect from “Made in Germany”. With HO you will get 3 rail, though, and you pay the “Made in Germany” price. For HO 2 rail DC look at Fleischmann as well. I had many Fleischmann HO locomotives and cars in the early 70’s and can tell you they were of the same quality as Marklin.

All the best.
