Mason Symbol on New York Central Lines Logo

Because I first saw this on my pre war Lionel 822 caboose I am going to post this here. I needed the New York Central Lines-System logo to make a decal. Working on the image in photoshop I noticed the “A” in “Central” the cross bar was shaped like a check, and at least to me turned the “A” in the logo into the Mason Compass symbol. I checked other logos and most all the early ones had this on it, where as the later/mosern ones did not. The bar on the “A” was straight on them.

I am not a Mason and certainly have nothing against them, but does anyone know any history about the New York Central Lines-System and where the orginal owners Mason’s?

I will show two different older logos one in this post and one in the next.

Second logo with “checked A”

Hmm, it does look like a Square & Compass.

Can’t tell if one or both points of the Compass is uncovered.
