A Republican who gets it.
Right. But where is he going to get it ?
I think you mean “projected deficit” instead of “defect.” I hope some of the budget goes for plows and flangers.
Typical, Get elected on no new taxes ,lower the budget and insure responsible fiscal spending. 3 months into his term and lets give the T a S----Load of money that will fix the problem, just throw a bunch of money and raise taxes! I got a better idea! How about you make the people you have in place do the job they were hired to do! Get management to get the over paid Dinosaur’s that sleep on the job do as little as possible making 6 figures that blatantly rob the tax payers of Mass. and then have the BALLS to ask for more money! How about you get your M+W people to actually work a full 8 hour day instead of 3-4 take 5-6 breaks go for1-2 hour meal breaks sleep in the back of unattended cars and so on you should get the picture by now ! There is way to much over spending on job repair and Locomotive service than should be, then they all hide behind the unions skirt of protection when confronted with this gross path of spending and poor job performance. Just give me the work that your supposed to do for the money you were contracted to do. If Keolis is crying poor mouth here ,I
m not buying it ! They just received one of the most lucrative contracts in the country. NO MORE!! You want new cars ,track ,+locomotives start down sizing your way over paid employees.
Very wrong move. He might as well be a Democrat for God’s sake. The problem with the MBTA is not that it is underfunded but that it is over extended with too many non-working employees as Mr. Battaglia points out below. They should concentrate on just 4 or 5 commuter lines and abandon the rest. Build bigger parking lots and run more frequent trains on the lines that are left. Fewer track miles to maintain and plow. Getting employees to acutally work would be another good way to cut the fat and not have to raise taxes again. Raising fares so those who use the system actually pay something for their service is another great suggestion.
At some point the taxpayers of Massachusetts, the majority of whom don’t ride the T, are going to revolt and the results are not going to be pretty. Massachusetts is one of the most overtaxed states in the country and they are near the breaking point now. If the government loons can’t start cutting expenses on their own the people will do it for them.
