I’m not associated with the show in any way, but it’s generally a pretty good one. Lots of free parking, and easy to find off of I-93. The Shriners do good works with their share of the profits - kids’ hospitals and that sort of thing. I go for the sausage & peppers sub.
One word of warning on this show. It is a Train and Toy show. The last time I went to it the toy vendors were mixed in with the train vendors and it was a zoo. The aisles were clogged with rugrats and SUV sized strollers. One kid puked right in the middle of everything and the noise level was incredible. I felt sorry for the train vendors trying to guard their merchandise from grubby little fingers. There are kids at nearly all the train shows I’ve gone to but they seemed to be out of control here. There are some good deals and a lot of interesting items but bring earplugs and watch where you step. Werner
Actually, I remember going to this show ten or fifteen years ago, when it was a dollhouse and train show. At that time, only about half the show was trains, and the rest was all manner of dolls and dollhouse stuff. Now, the trains are really the lion’s share of vendor booths. Yes, there are a few action figure, Tonka and military toy booths, but mostly it is train related.
There is a large amount of old Lionel and Tinplate stuff, and even some S-gauge. They generally put all of the big-gauge stuff on one side of the aisle, and the HO and N on the other.
I’m glad for the crowds. It tells me things are healthy. Yeah, one Dad can take his three kids and a few neighborhood spares and have a cheap afternoon out for them, with the kids admitted free, but maybe one of those kids will pick up the hobby.
As for watching your step? Well, they used to hold circuses in that building. So, a bit of baby barf is certainly not the worst mess that old floor has ever seen.
I’ll be there. If you see an ugly guy wearing a red St. Louis Cardinals hat, say hello. I think the show is always well attended, and don’t find the children there to be a problem. And not for nuthin’, but the food there is always good!
