Back from York and Roanoke VA. Don got his eyes full of trains, classification yards and shops. He got to see O. Winston Link Museum and its movie. Long drive to make it before 4 yesterday. Then had to wait for 1 today to get into the VA. Transprotation Museum. Got to see a A class and a Y class as well as some diesels.
Prayers for Buckeye and Fifey.
Great to get with all the Yanks. Those from NJ who I had never met before, pretty good guys [for Yanks that is].
I’m anxious to get planning and preping the room but that won’t be for a few months. The room is finished but I want to get better lighting. It will be small, I guessing at this point ~ 6 x 10, with a 3 rail loop in addition to the AF 2 rail. Simple loops with lots of accesories operating.
Back from York. Got in late yesterday. It was great meeting all the guys - and the special appearances by RT, Don, & da Chief. Got the video tour of the progress on the Rustang - great job by H John with the students. When he said it was a Rustang he was not kidding! The frame is so thin you can see the air inside!
Picked up a 1990’s Lionel Classics std ga 381E & the matching 3 two-tone green state cars for 1/2 the current going prices! Wowzers - didn’t expect that!
For those that missed it - the ice cream social Friday afternoon was as great as always - HJohn - many many thanks again to Doray! Many stories about SJ’s jammies…ooooo…
Buckeye - good to see your post - hope that means the procedures went well - [angel]
Oh - and I came home to get to go to Jury Duty this morning first thing - rode the light rail and then a bus downtown - and it was Jury Appreciation week! - free coffee and donuts in the Central Jury Room! Had 4 or each!
Phish - Congrats on the new layou-er-house. I’m challenging you to think vertical; 3 tiers; 4 trains running. Trimmed out super sweet with shelving. Some of the best layouts I’ve seen are space limited. Remember Kooljock’s masterpiece? And, yeah, lighting first. I’m already excited for future SPF’s.
Roy - It was Hudson John that got me hooked on lemon icecream.[dinner]
Glad you made it to Roanoke and the Link Museum. Whenever 611 joins the other two there they will have the big three again. I don’t know about the future of the Y3 or if it is only on loan. All set for my kidney stone procedure tomorrow around 6:00PM. Say I can go home after but I will believe that when I see it. My son will stay with me if needed the first night. I passed one stone myself today. One down, 6 to go.
Stur Phish, congrats on the house. Roy, congrats on the 381! Nice. Quiet day at work and will be moving away from pain one and pain two. Finally after 3 years of trying. Blood pressure dropping already. Weather is brisk. I hope everyone has a good day.
Sunny good morning. 76 degrees with lower humidity. Rained during the night. Resting up. Watched DVR’d shows [one good one is Wild on PBS]. Cooked red hots for breakfast.
Now will get ready for the fray. A couple of Town things and then get hot peppers and cucumbers for the garden. Mow grass. Town Board tonight.
Tomorrow, stacking up. Walk to school day at Sanford Creek Elementary and then High School Food Pantries meeting at court house.
Enjoyed York. All safe and sound home. Don Baker back in LA, CA. Only bought one engine and some maintenance things.
Great to see Bob Keller again. Been a long time.
Buckeye on disability is an excuse to run trains and get Mrs. Buckeye to wait on him. Get well.
Fifey and Brent were missed highly. Wish Brent had brought the kids. Would love to meet them.
Hey Buckeye try to get well! Remember 7 weeks only seems a bit long. One time I fractured my hip bone and the doctor said to get some rest, up to 8 weeks, until you feel better, but that was about 28 years ago.
Not much going on, just trying to stay dry as we have a rain storm coming our way here in southern Florida, even West Palm Beach FL. The weather man said around 11:30 am it would hit but so far only a few clouds.
Also trying to get a couple things done here at the house, back porch needs repair work; windows and electrical.
Missed seeing you guys as well. As for bringing the kids… not gonn happen. Unfortunately York is during the school year and TheQ and I don’t believe in them missing school unless it is an emergency or illness. Plus their little legs would get tired after one hall and their little fingers would have a hard time not touching everything. [:)] I love my kids, but I know their limits… and most importantly… mine.[oX)]
Got back from York last night, WOW, what a week! Truly fantastic!! Most significant part was meeting everyone. Really had a great time! Spent a couple of days at the Chief’s place, checking out the area and the Train Box. Everyone was really great, and Pam is a very lovely lady!
Driving up to York from NC was awesome, ALL THE GREEN, unbelievable! Don’t know what I’m doing in Ca, just protecting “You All” from all the crazyness I guess.
On the way back we went through Roanoke, and the Blue Ridge Mtns, more beautiful country! The museum was fantastic, missed 611, but still plenty to see. And O. Winston Link was really something to see, especially the movie.
Then there was York… so difficult so much to see, and especially everyone that was there from the forums. One great group of people! Just not enough time to talk as much as would have liked to. This was the 3rd time I’ve been there and they were all great!
A BIG THANKS to the Chief for putting me up, and dragging me up there and back!!!
As everyone else now to get back to the regular routine, but the memories will be flashing back for a long time.
Hope Buckeye’s & Ray’s recoverys are quick, you both have been through enough already.
