Now I want to find out Rich’s eBay name and just watch a bunch of his auctions.
You probably wouldn’t like what I do on Ebay then: I bookmark stuff I’m interested in, and, more or less every week (sometimes more often) I go and page through it all and delete the bookmarks for stuff that sold. No, I don’t use the watching function, but it has resulted in some purchases… at Trainz.com instead of Ebay.
OK, so maybe I was being a little too dramatic when I said, “I hate watchers”.
It’s just that I have no use for them because they usually don’t turn out to be buyers. I am much more encouraged by the number of Views that I get. This tells me that there is an interest in my item.
I think one reason that people become Watchers is that they have a similar item to sell and want to see how my item performs.
One advantage to being a Watcher is that eBay encourages sellers to make an offer to Watchers. In the past, I have sometimes agreed to send offers and it sometimes results in sales to Watchers..
Rich
I usually only “watch” the highly unusual like Carlisle and Finch #2 gauge or documented prototypes from the Lionel engineering department.
Entertrainment, huh?
