Maybrook article, in Jan. 2005 Issue

Many thanks to those who put together the four-state map (p. 52) of railroads leading to Maybrook. True, “Not all lines shown,” but the map is a great help to a guy like myself who cannot draw it from memory. The good news is that nearby Campbell Hall has 26 passenger trains on weekdays and 14 Saturdays and Sundays, on the Erie! Sorry they do not announce connecting service to Poughkeepsie, Millerton, Winsted, and Hartford.

Been around awhile, eh, Bellmore? And the train went on from there to Boston, too! Good service, a few years back…

I too thank the folks for the maps of and around Maybrook. It’s just weeds now… the only thing I missed was a photo of the Poughkeepsie bridge, which started it all.

Maybe instead of building a New York City freight railroad tunnel, the Poughkeepsie Bridge should be rebuilt. Since Metro North does operate the Port Jervice - Hoboken trains in connection with New Jersey Transit, maybe they would run a suburb-to-suburb “bypass congestion” comuter train with the connections at New Haven restored! Along with interchange at the crossing of the Hudson Division, Harlem, Warterbury, and of course Danbury. (not very likely, better a bus-only lane on the bridge in addition to the single track) But of course those trains you mention have the connections NOW: Just change at Secuacus for any NE Corridor train.
