MBTA installs new maps, subway countdown app

My wife and I were in San Fransico a couple of years ago and their bus, trolley and subway stops had digital signs to let you know when the next one would arrive. They have a real nice public transportation system. When we were in Boston last year the MBTA ticket app was real easy to use.

That sounds really useful. I wonder if they could do that with buses also? That is all the mass transit some citites have.

But they still can’t get Charlie off the MTA…

The T’s website has close to 40 apps available, most of which are third party and many of which cover bus routes. All T modes are covered one way or the other, except perhaps for the ferries.

Seattle [and surrounding suburbs] Bus and Light Rail have a smart phone app “OneBusAway” that allows you to put in your route and it shows a list of the next few buses available and when they will arrive. You can also enter a number that is on each bus stop sign to get directly to that stop. Your GPS places you near the closest stop on its map. Works quite well.

Too many half “assed” apps, lets hope this one has it all
