MBTA to offer express service to Worcester
When I was running on the old B&A, I routinely ran from Worcester to South Station in Boston in one hour flat with stops at Framingham and Back Bay. And that was back in the 1980’s when we were restricted to 50 mph. The last I heard, most of this route west of m.p. 4 has a 60 mph track speed. The fact that much could support 80 mph is beside the point right now. There has to be a liberal dose of time killing slow running. Doesn’t sound like much of an express run. What it does sound like is one of the factors that pushed me out of the industry: some people are more concerned with covering their backsides than pushing the envelope.
The photo currently displayed is of Ayer Mass, which is not along the MBTA Boston-Worcester/Framingham line.
I have to ask, where are the funds to pay for this?
In 1957 the Boston & Albany express Beeliners bettered the current MBTA express trains between Worcester and Boston by fifteen minutes.
