How are these two HO model makers kits (McKean, Front range)? Are they both still in business? Any opinons?
No, Front Range came first, then that line went to McKean, and later to E&C and then LBF and more recently Huberts. You can still find examples of most of these on Ebay or at swap meets etc.
As said, neither exists in its orignal form. The kits were all right, but might be considered a little rough by today’s standards.
Some of the Front Range molds went to Accurail and some to the Red Caboose and were upgraded and/or changed. The only thing that went to the other companies after Mckean was the owner of the company who went on to other projects.
