Searching for any MDC Roundhouse locos, 4-4-0, 2-6-2 or 4-6-2, and 2-8-0. Absolutely must be Harriman boiler and vanderbilt tenders. Modeling Pacific Northwest late 40’s early 50’s. Grew up around SP steam. Could not find any on E-bay. Anyone out there seen any gathering dust on some obscure hobby shop shelf, etc? Heard that someone was gonna re-introduce this line. What’s the scoop?
For the record… the MDC Harriman locomotives were 4-4-2, 2-6-2, 4-6-0 and 2-8-0. The MDC 0-6-0 is also a SP design.
Athearn has reworked the MDC 4-4-0 and it should be available next month in ready-to-run form with DCC and sound.
My usual sources for out-of-production stuff include Jay’s Trains (http://www.jaystrains.com/), Caboose Hobbies (http://www.caboosehobbies.com/), Flying Scotsman (http://www.fshobby.com/), and, of course, eBay. Calling some of the better known hobby shops that have been around and have (had) extensive stocks can also be productive. eBay tends to slow down in number of offerings and have lower prices during the Summer, from my observations.
