Measuring for Gargraves

This may seem like a dumb question to some of you guys. I am getting ready to order my gargraves track for my layout. My layout has two trestles in it. When you are meausing straight track say for instance 36" you measure straight down the track. When you are measuring for curve track say for 36" how do you meausrre that? Do you assemble a complete circle of track and then measure across the circle from center rail to center rail? Thanks for your help.

Traditional tin plate sectional track was measured outside tie edge to outside tie edge. I believe that Gargraves measures diameter from center rail to center rail.

Tex702, There are two ways to answer your question, chuckn’s way if your asking about the diameter/radius of a cirlce/curve. If your asking how long a piece of track to use on, say, an S curve you’d measure the center line/rail distance for the average length. The inside rail on the curve will be shorter and the outer longer. With GG flextrack its best to measure in place rather than trying to calculate and cut. Remember - measure twice - cut once.
