Medison Central: Where are you?

Hi,

I have a how-to MR DVD with the Madison Railroad on it. It’s from several years back, and is the first Dream-Paln-Build Disk of the series.

I am getting up the nerve to finally try and build this layout, the first layout since the early 80’s. Where can I find this layout in print? I think there’s an expansion to it too. If so, I’ll build that one too [:D]

Thanks

Welcome to the forums.

If you go to the light gray line at the top of this page, click on RESOURCES, then Magazine Index. Type in Madison Railroad and you will find several hits. There is reference to a couple of 1997 MR articles as well as a track plan book. Think they were all by Jim H of the MR staff.

Good luck,

Richard

You Betcha! Madison Central = 1997 with Jim Hediger.

Oh yeah, MADison, not medison. Curse my proofreading skills! LOL. Thanks for the input. This is my first post and I am SO very green.

That layout was designed to be built during the NMRA National Convention in Madison WI back in 1997. A youth group guided by adults set themselves the goal of building the whole darn thing during that week! The version of the plan that ended up in the trackplan book is actually available for viewing on Google Books

And if you look at it closely, for all practical purposes it is the same layout that Dick Cecil builds during the World’s Greatest Hobby video.
