I went to a train show yesterday and encountered a man who was encouraging people to scratchbuild. His booth had several impressive scratchbuilt brass locomotives and cars on display. He was very helpful and explained that it’s a lot easier than it initially looks. Scratchbuilding is something I’ve been interested in for a while now, but I have yet to dive into it. He recommended that I find an article published in Model Railroader some time in the '50’s by a man named Mel Thornburg about scratchbuilding a 4-4-0. I’ve been seraching around for this article, but I have yet to find it. Does anyone have any leads?
