Going back to 1957 for a burger.
Nice job of placement! That’s a great piece that I want but just don’t have the room. You’ve done a nice job of building a very inviting scene, way to go.
It does take up quite a bit of space. It’s operation is unique too as the car pulls in the waitresses on roller skates come up to the cars and take the orders. The prices are from the 1950s that they quote. It would be nice to get a burger, fries and a coke for $1.15 but those days are long gone. Minimum wage was 1.00 an hour back then to so all is relative.
We have a lot of the MTH operating accessories on the club layout, Mel’s and the Firehouse have been there since day one without failures of any sort. [:)] Unfortunately the others haven’t fared so well. [:(]
Always liked/wanted Mel’s diner, but I don’t have room either.
I have not had much trouble with the MTH accessories but the diner does occasionally slip some gears. I have never looked into seeing why.
Dave, Our layout is open to the public six days a week so they really get a workout. It just seems like the older ones were built with a little better durability than the later ones. To be honest about them, they just are not designed for the amount of use they see on our layout but they are a hit with the visitors.
Yes, I imagine if the visitors are allowed to run the accessories they will really get a workout. Mine just run for me, my grandsons and some guests.
