The Main Street trolleys are finally back in Downtown Memphis, making their return 11 a.m. Monday.
After nearly four years, MATA officials said a lot of work went into getting the trolleys back, and it was not cheap.
More than $10 million was spent to refurbish the trolley system, re-engineering it with modern safety upgrades.
The trolleyline was shut down in 2014 after a series of fires stemming from electrical problems. No one was injured, but the issues caused a complete nrebuild of the system.
Starting Monday through May 14, trolley rides will be free.
