I am looking for the individual Lionel “production item numbers” for the most recent Menard’s CNW passenger set. Can anyone who purchased this set relay that data?
Engine / Tender, Baggage Car, Coach Car, Observation Car
Steve, I don’t know the numbers, but I just saw the set of three cars going for nearly $180 on the bay and the engine was $80 by itself. Thats freaking nuts for a set that got blown out after christmas for $110!!! Must be people outside the midwest like that set and or they made fewer of them than they did the WC pass set in 07.
Thanks, but what I am looking for is the 5 digit production number, not the numbers shown on the side of the units.
As far as the Packer connection, I have an empty original box of the frozen tundra campaign, never had the tundra in it, in excellent condition… do you think someone would trade the 3 coaches for that?
I was wondering the same thing, but was waiting for the post-holiday questions to Lionel to die down. Your post was a reminder, so I e-mailed Lionel asking for the part numbers. I had e-mailed a few years ago to get the part number for the C&NW RS-3 in a Midwest freight set (Hobby Lobby), and received an answer within a week.
I plan to post the information when I hear back from Lionel.
Thanks… I hadn’t thought of inquirying direct to Lionel. I am certainly interested in these coaches, but failed to react in time to purchase the set. At some time, I think these will be turning up from folks who have lost interest, or upgrading towards scale products, etc. Not willing to pay a huge amount, they should be obtainable for no more than $100 for the three (less engine). I have an O27 layout, so these would fit right in.
The official Lionel number was given in the reply, “The product number for the RS-3 is 6-20-8856-001.” For you and me, that translates to (6-)28856.
I’d like to see the numbers online, too, but I think most hobbyists don’t care enough for Lionel to justify the effort. My main interest is using the numbers to organize my inventory list.
I would think Kalmbach also would have to get the information from Lionel for use in the Greenberg’s price guides. If we could get these guides in .pdf files, we could run a search and find the information that way. Do they ban PDA’s at York, too?[;)]
