I am trying to find some information on Mercur trains - I believe they are (were) made in Czechoslovacia but I cannot find a single website or data source - help! [:D] Most specifically when they were in business- how many trains did they make - [?]
Hi bruno 1900
First I would like to say Welcome to the CTT forum
I am sorry to say that I can’t help you and it may take the weekend for someone to post one. With the nice weather and York train show, most people may not be around during the day.
Tom
Bruno,
Welcome! I’m not sure if this is what you are seeking, but it is an O gauge manufacturer in Europe:
Well, Merkur (spelt with a k, not a c) made good-quality tinplate O gauge 3-rail electric trains as well as other toys. They started out before WWII and are still in business today. They still do make trains like the old ones. They have their own website at http://www.merkurtoys.cz/en/ which does show some of their trains. The section on their history is only on the Czech site at http://www.merkurtoys.cz/welcome.htm and so isn’t in English, but does contain some old photos and catalog illustrations. In my own train collection I own a Merkur tank car and refrigerator car.
