Message Stars

I just got a quick question about the stars on the side of some peoples id’s. How do they get there? Are they based on how many replies you post or what?

Each post (not reply, new topics count too) is counted in getting a star. 50 posts = 1 star, 100 = 2 stars, 500 = 3 stars, 1000 = 4 and someone else will have to fill in 5…

All except for David Voss (Trains.com web designer)… He has as many stars as he wants

From a quick study of the forum 5 stars must equal 2000 posts. There is a person with 1900+ posts and has 4 stars. Another person has 2100+ posts and has 5 stars.

Correct.

I don’t understand the point of them. Someone fill me in please…

There are actually 5 points to the star:
Top,
Middle Left,
Middle Right,
Bottom Left,
Bottom Right.

They’re really just in fun, but they also are used sometimes to gauge how active a forum is. If I see a lot of 0 - 1 star replies, and the replies are fairly old I usually figure the forum is fairly quiet. If I see a lot of 2-4 star replies and the replies are fairly current I figure the forum is fairly active. It does no good to ask a pressing question at a quiet forum.

Who will make it to 6 stars?

hmmm my guess would be mookie but i think the stars would change color.
stay safe

The stars don’t really have anything to do with how “active” a particular forum and a
particular thread is. The stars show how many times a forum member
posts/replies to a thread (topic).
