I have just come to putting the roof on a Campbell Scale models Quincy Station and the roof is made of corrugated aluminium. The idea is that you cut the stuff into scale 26" stips glue it down overlapping a scale 2" each. Do you guys have any experience with this, if so I woud like to know how you painted it?
The best way to paint this is with an airbrush, painting both sides and all edges after the piece of roofing has been cut to size. Depending on the paint, it may take more than one coat to cover well. Be sure the paint is almost dry on contact or you can get runs an poor paint coverage. I find holding the roof panel by one corner using fine tweezers best for control. Choose a different corner for the second coat, etc. I also like Walthers Goo for attaching these overlapping roof panels to the roof underlayment.
I’ve used the Campbell’s corrugated roofing quite a few times but always finished it as heavily rusted and weathered…always comes out great. I expect you’d want a newer, painted finish in the case of an operating RR station however.

i gave it a shot of dullcoat to get rid of the shineyness , then added some bragdon weathering powders to get that rusty look . i think it looks pretty good and one of these days i’m going to figure out our digital camera and post a pic since it’s on my 1st ever structure kit
Good way to get the faded look. Dull coat it good and when that is completely dry, mist it with regular (70%) rubbing alcohol.
I weather my roofing with Radio Shack PC board etchant. Here is a building that I just built with it.
