metal vehicle models. what type of cement to use

I have quite a few old ulrich truck kits and woodland senic metal kits. I’m wondering if anyone can suggest the best type of adehisive to use in the building of these kits. I have used CA (different brands) and seems the parts come apart, I’ve tried small amounts to one part, same with two parts no luck…any help would be great

When I first did an Ulrich kit, I used liquid Airplane cement - but that was in the '50’s!! They’re still together BTW!!! My first thought would be a gel type ACC/Crazy glue. A good 2 part epoxy may work, but being thicker, controlling it may be more difficult. One question, did you clean the parts to be fastened good? The white metal used in those kits will get a kind of oxidation on the surface that may keep the super glue from making good adhesion. Buffing the points to be glued with a Dremel or even a light touch with a file should do the trick. My [2c]

Lou. I filed (to remove any flash)them, then cleaned the parts with soap & water let them dry. Used ca glue but the parts(especially on woodland scenic) seem to come apart easily after you would think they would be okay…

I’ve built a few WS metal kits (caterpillar tractor and flagstop station) and I’ve had good luck with slo-set gap-filling CA. It takes a little longer to set up, but once it’s hard, it’s HARD! I haven’t had any problems, but you have to work slow with it. However, if you’ve not had luck with that, I would think that a 5-minute Epoxy would work as well if not better.
