Metra plan to allow pets put on hold
We were on a train in Scotland when a man go on with his dog. I asked, “They allow dogs on trains in Scotland?” He answered, “Aye, why not?” I thought, “Yeah, why not?”
Why not? As someone who was attacked (fairly brutally) by a dog as a child, and remains terrified of them to this day (30+ years later), let me tell you…dogs on trains causes me to take a serious look at other means of transportation. The last thing I want to do is sit next to one (even crated) for an hour or more.
The Rock Island used to allow cats in the coaches. I took my cat from LaSalle St. to Peoria with full approval of the conductor. Ah, the Rock Island Line was a mighty fine road to ride!
I guess someone thought this policy might bite. Anyway scratch this for now.
The transit people in Victoria B.C. have just said no to a plan for dogs onboard the bus system. Good.
I remember being on a flight where the airline’s rules were the dog had to be kept in the cage for the duration of the flight. As soon as we had taken off, the lady had the dog out of the kennel on her lap.
The flight attendants did nothing because when they were nearby the passenger just hid the dog under her coat. I wasn’t about to say anything as we had a 5 hour flight ahead of us and the situation would have become very testy.
you can but a sleeve that says “service animal” online. case closed
This is silly. The whole idea of this was a test, to see if it works or not! A test on one line, weekends only.
Now, no test. So we won’t learn anything.
As for people who don’t like pets, that’s easy. The “pet car” should be a designated car or section of a car in the train. Those that don’t like or fear pets can easily use a different car or section.
I saw people take pets on trains in Europe, no issue at all.
Why are people so afraid to try things?
