Metra rebuilding 1990s coaches, adding amenities
Electrical outlets? What’s the deal here? Chicago railroad commuters too idiotic to charge their devices before they leave the house or office? And who is paying for these upgrades? The usual taxpayers, in this instance it would be those who purchase fuel in the counties where Metra exists. Which is why I purchase fuel in Wisconsin where it is less taxing.
Now just wait and see how the fights will break out among commuters all wanting the same outlets because there are not enough for everybody.
This has to be a good idea !
Mr. Guse, what was the last thing you approved of, other than your own birth?
Not all batteries are capable of keeping their device operating for the entire time it takes a train to get from the end of the line to Chicago, even on an express train. This is an amenity that is long overdue. It will attract even more riders, helping Metra’s bottom line and getting more people off the highly-subsidized highways. These cars were built with blank plates at every seat, so adding the outlets shouldn’t be difficult.
You don’t travel much, do you? Long overdue and greatly needed.
Got it covered… I’ll be selling three-way outlets for a slight markup at all suburban and downtown stations. Free enterprise! Isn’t it the American way?
The rebuilding includes new toilets and restrooms…
Why does METRA need these? SEPTA has survived without this frivolous amenity!
