Now if the BNSF could just fix the problems with the crossing gates going up and down at odd intervals everything will be hunky dory.
A picture AT Downers Grove would have been nice. This one is at Hinsdale, several miles away. Mr. Matalis can supply you with any number of pictures of DG.
Possibly and probably inevitably, crossing gate odd times gate activation will happen in the future.
Imagine your rr’s district signal maintainer being a zoo veterinarian and the signal devices, from dragging equipment detectors to control point switches and signals, including crossing protection…gates and their controls…are his animals.
The maintainer has prescribed intervals to give “physical exams” (inspect and verify by testing.)
Where crossings are close together and the gates are required to be down 20 seconds before a train covers the crossing occupancy and control circuitry may be ganged to control multiple crossings to drop their gates together.
You are there.
No trains.
Gates descend and rise.
No trains.
Comprende?, Senor.
