Metra Ticket agent question

I would like to know why some Metra Stations have Ticket agents while other do not and how dose Metra detirmine which stations get agnets. Finally how are Metra ticket agents at out laying stations ie (stations that are not terminals such as Ologolvie,Union,Lasall, and Randolph) Supvisered? Please let me know thank you.

An increasingly large percentage of Metra riders use weekly or monthly commutation passes (especially during rush hour periods, when ridership peaks) and thus “manual” ticket sales are few and far between at many stations. Many Metra stations are only manned during “peak” travel times…this even applies to the larger stations such as Naperville and Route 59 on the BNSF line, one of Metra’s busiest routes. Metra, with serious and worsening funding issues, knows which stations are the ones that need to be manned and which don’t. Their personnel are supervised by Metra management to visit the stations on a regular (and sometimes random) basis to check on operations at these stations.

Perhaps I am hitting the wrong stations, but I have yet to see an automated Metra ticket machine. Are there in fact any?

In either case, auto ticket machines should be commonplace…if only Metra could only get into the 21st century in this regard!

Any one of us can buy Metra tickets online via the their internet web site www.metrarail.com

If you run out of options, you can always buy your ticket(s) from the conductor on the train after your board.

Last I Checked Ticket mechines are used on the Eleteric line only.

Yeah, they’re all over the Metra Electric Line…come to think of it…besides Van Buren and Randolph, I’m not sure if any of the other ME stops even have ticket agents. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes I have confimered that only Randolph and Van Buren have Ticket Agents the rest have mechinies. Just go to http://metrarail.com/Sched/PDF/me.pdf I hope this anwsers your question
