It seems logical that this should work. However, conductors on the LIRR told me they didn’t use the system because it didn’t always work or work correctly and took more time than a straight cash fare. Likewise, MNRR people indicted the same message. I would think that even in the past year, cell phone technology and ability to connect and the increased use of WiFi signals aboard trains should help make the improvements. But also, how much of the problem was “people” oriented and not technical? As I said, it seems logical that it should work and I foresee it for the future. I am impressed with the home computer generated Amtrak ticket which is a simple scan by Conductors and process is done. I home commuter roads can have the same success.
