“affect the new line”?
The truth of the matter is that the Park Board was hoping to extort millions from this project for other park projects. When the feds told the Metro Council that transit money couldn’t be used to bribe cities to accept rail lines thru previous rail yards (yes the line was a rail yard just 30 years ago and banked for rail use) the Park Board folded. The Park Board should maintain parks instead of throwing up every barrier they can to rebuilding our transit system…This is the hobby of every publicly funded institution in the state: extort money from other agencies to make every tax supported project as expensive as possible. Even Minnesota Public Radio tried to stop the line to St. Paul claiming that the noise from trains would interrupt their studios. (Never mind that trucks barrel thru St. Paul on roads barely driveable.)
