Hello!
I have 4 dummy first run metroliners. I have been studying them and lookign for products that i could possibly use to make one a power car, but i haven’t found anything. unlike other dummy things,( where its the same old locomotive with out motors and gears) the dummy metroliner was built as a piece of rolling stock, the trucks being screwed right into the chassis.
You might call up Northwest Shortline and inquire about their low profile Power trucks. They are meant so you can have operating trollies, and the like, but also enjoy full interiors. You might call them and see if they make a gear ratio that would be appropriet for use on high speed metroliners.

Hello Green Elite!
I’ve stripped 4 HO Bachmann Metroliners (91% Alcohol bath–piece of cake!). I’m repainting them into “Penn Central” using Alclad II Metalizer paints. I’ve been working on them slowly for over a year, but plan on finishing up fairly soon. I’ve already repainted the coaches’ interiors.
I"m stumped as to how to repower them as well. The “truck motors” from Walthers and NWSL are geared too low and the powered truck in the Walther’s Doodlebug is too short in length as is the set up in the P1K RDC. Metroliner trucks are 9 scale feet long.
Yes, while the prototype Metroliners hit 110 mph, I would like to be able to run mine at 80 or 90 scale mph tops with a reasonably low noise drive, like a P1K.
If you or anyone read or hear of a solution, please post it here.
Thanks!
