No surprise here. Governments do questionable financial practices all the time and get away with it because it’s government. When does the Obama bailout kick in? After all, welfare transporation for the recipient class must be funded by the provider class. It must be done according to the Obama socialist constitution, open for revision, as needed.

Metrolink has been around for almost 20 years, and they still don’t have a decent accounting practice in place?

What’s funny to me is the ceo of metra here in the Chicago area jumped in front of a metra train not too long ago after being caught doing the things this person was let go for. Its also funny how some of these commuter operations are always having financial trouble when you see the numbers for ridership and it doesn’t match up.

No. Phil Pagano, longtime Metra chief, offed himself rather than face the music for his out and out theft from Metra.

Folks, I own an business and have lived here in Southern California for 24 years. California Government employees and management teams are in NO way held accountable for any of their actions. In fact, in some cases people such as this tend to move on to better, and higher paying jobs in some other California Government agency where out here in the real world this person would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. If you think what you hear in the news is inaccurate, “CORRUPTION” of California civil servants, this is certainly proof positive. This State has a real serious problem with issues such as this.

When financial scandals break out, and then the news gets a hold of it, it’s no surprise the crooks will grab the money and run and leave somebody else to clean up the mess they ahve created.

This is part and parcel with a dysfunctional cycle of behavior and ducking of responsibility by the Board: http://la.streetsblog.org/2013/02/14/editorial-what-is-it-with-metrolink/

Not a surprise, we do not hold our Federal Government accountable for their irresponsible actions, involving spending, waste etc. of public funds. Action/follow up must be taken that carries substantial painful punishment. Should be substantial prision and fines attached.
