San Bernardino and Riverside have grown large enough to be considered a major metro, according to the Census Bureau, and that does not include Orange county. Metrolink continues to grow and with a new CEO formerly of NJ Transit, he can use his knowledge to allow for service expansions in the greater Southern California area that could bring up to par similar with those in NJ. I see route expansions towards Perris, Monrovia, and Victorville, from San Bernardino quite possible by the time this decade is out or shortly afterwards, depending upon the economy and jobs growth. Traffic has been clogged on I-10 for the morning commute into San Bernardino as early as 5AM. This is a far more worthy project than building more toll lanes or toll roads which continue to siphon off money for much needed repairs of the current infrastructure. Selfish speeding jackasses violating carpool lane restrictions contribute for over half the traffic alone in carpool lanes, and the private toll roads are one major reason Orange County is broke.
