Metrolink proposes additional double track for express trains
Double tracks on the San Gabriel Sub are something Metrolink can definitely use, especially since ridership is up and will continually rising . That will reduce “waiting in the hole” for the other train.
Makes a lot of sense. A single track commuter line is an oxymoron.
Double-tracking this line is a must.
One way the double tracking could take place along I-10 would be to convert one of the two carpool lanes to a reversible “rush hours” only lane and the land space from the other side could be used to double-track the line. This would also help in maintenance procedures, too, as the single track is a tight narrow corridor along I-10.
