We are down here to go fishing tomorrow at Ky Lake…good luck to us as the lake is about 5 foot high due to all of the rain.
Passing thru Metropolis area, I remembered the joint line bridge and we took a look. The BNSF line seemed to be pretty busy with a couple of coal trains. About how many coal trains are on this line daily? There was a coal train with UP power also on the line? What are the operations on the line? Does UP have trackage rights? I thought they sent their coal trains down the IC to Duquoin and then across to the IC line and south.
Where do these coal trains transload? Is it in the Paducah area, or on to the dam at Kentucky Lake? Appears to be considerable activity there. Does P&L grant trackage rights on these or operate the trains to the transload?
