Three companies have been claiming SP Daylight consists would be available “RSN” for months, even more than a year.
When I tried during a visit to get a date from Broadway about their cars and GS-4, they were vague: “probably Dec/Jan”. So I ordered the MTH engine. I just called to them about cars, and they say April or later. Something tells me later. Athearn says the same thing.
In the meantime, a good-looking Kato N version was bought by a friend months ago.
I seem to hear about much interest in these cars. WHY are these guys dragging their feet for so long? Am I going to have to buy the Kato and do a “Honey, I blew up the kids” on it?
Feel free to jump in here, Broadway, with something reassuring sounding.

Have you ever heard of a company called Lotus Development Corporation. They are now the Lotus Software division of Big Blue!
In the early-'80s Lotus Development came out with a spreadsheet program, Lotus 1-2-3, which literally stormed the PC market. Towards the middle of the decade Lotus announced the development of a Version 2. It was going to be out tomorrow . . . . . or was that next week . . . . . or was it going to be next month . . . . . or was it going . . . . . I think you get the point.
What Lotus Development was trying to do was sell their new Version on promise by getting people to forestall purchase of other spreadsheet programs. People got tired of waiting for Version 2 and when it finally hit the market sales were flat and it became belly-up time. It would not be unheralded for Broadway to be trying to pull this type of a stunt; our product is just around the corner–don’t purchase anyone elses.
Athearn stated that they are encountering delays due to production issues and in all likely hood, the others are too. The factories that Athearn, BLI and MTH produce products for other companies as well so, they have to schedule time frames for production runs not counting any problems with the actual production cycle.
