Michigan Central Station would be ideal to serve commuter trains and Amtrak in Detroit.
I believe these are CB&Q gallery cars outta Chi…, I rode them, great cars. Quiter than the newer ones.
The former MC Station is no longer on the Amtrak route and is not convenient to downtown. They are building a light rail line between downtown and the new ATK station.

If these articles would include pictures, that would help determine if the cars are of CB&Q vs. C&NW heritage. They are former CB&Q gallery cars. Just Google “mdot owosso mi” images and you will see what they are. Does anyone have a list of car numbers that survived Metra’s disposal?
MCS is not convenient at all for serving Metro Center Detroit. The only useful function of MCS is it’s proximity to the tunnel to Canada if cross boarder service were ever to be restored.
Grant, the ex-Q cars are in the following series. 700-740, 752, 781 and all the cab cars, 790-795. Not all of these cars are in MI, but they include the ones in question.
