Micro-Trains in HO

Does anybody know why Micro-trains does not do HO (other then HOn3)?

I was thinking it was because they were spun off of Kay-dee and are not allowed to go in to each other’s market. I would love to see some of the rolling stock they have done in N scale be reproduced in the HO Market.

You are right that they were part of Kadee, and were spun off(each of the Edwards brothers took half of the company). Kadee does sell those great HO box cars, hoppers, & covered hoppers. They also sell kits for HO logging cars.

two really good brands that I almost never hear of anymore are McKean and Front Range, Although I occasionally see them on ebay.

Probably McKean and Front Range were not that good since they have been out of business for many years. Some of the Mckean cars went to Concor, the 50’ PS1 boxcar mold was destroyed long ago. Some of the Front Range I think went to Accurail.

Micro Trains HAS finally entered the HO market: HOn3, to be precise.

I wouldn’t say “really good.” They are nothing compared to the RTR items of today, and nothing compared to many of the Walthers kits.

I have to agree with uspscsx here.

I heard that one brother took the N&Z scale half while the other took the HO and larger.

Not sure what’s going on in HOn3 since they both have products there - perhaps the agreement is disintegrating.

Enjoy
