MicroTrains axle grind

Got a “40’ Modern Log Car w/ Uprights and Log Load” and the axles of the wheels closest to the couple boxes touch & bump on the boxes (where toothpick is pointing):

Is this a defect on mine? a design flaw? or is there something I can do to put a bit of space between truck and body?
Thanks!

i had a similar problem with walthers reefers and 40 ft box cars in HO scale. i chucked the axle in my miniature drill press and held a file agains the axle while it spun. this turned the axle down thinner so it would clear.

Thanks for the idea: I could try sanding / filing but the axle is mighty thin already, and slimming it down won’t stop the axle or the flanges (on closer curves) from hitting the coupler box. Didn’t know if there was a different style truck that would extend the wheels lower, or a way to put a spacer between truck and body.

KaDee makes fibre washers in I believe .010" and/or .015" thickness.Put one of these between the truck and bolster at each end should sovle your problem.

Your LHS should have them in stock or can atleast order them for you.

I had a similar problem with a bowser hopper, the screw hole was not deep enough, so I drill a deeper hole, and now it runs fine.
