LOOOOKIN GOOOOD

Those backdrops look great!!! Nice pics!!!

Painted or photo- If phpto , where? and What? Really great

Great shots so far!!! [8D]

Now for a little more Grande action…

A couple of EMD’s finest on duty somewhere along the Platte Canyon Spur.

Midniteflyer, those backdrops are OUTSTANDING!!![:p][:D] they really fit what you have done on your layout! [;)] VERY impressive! i LOVE the photo fun threads. my fav.part in MR is the trackside photos, and with mid week & weekend photo fun, its like i get it almost all week long.[:D] [8D] grande man, ALWAYS love to see your fine work!! the outstanding modeling and picture work you do, i NEVER get tired of[:D]. keep em coming guys!

Thanks so much. Model railroaders seem to have a strong apprieciation for each other’s work. I like looking at other layouts as much as I do our own. I’m glad you do too. The web has made the hobby that much better in this respect. I am, however, running out of camera angles for new shots on our small RR.[V] Maybe it’s time to get started on that new extension!

i’d call the backdrops nice , but that would be a massive understatement . come on , spill the details , how , where , and how much ?

Backdrops are Vollmer, got them from Walthers they were $30. Put them on the wall using spray adhesive.

I always wanted to visit the Colorado Alps[:o)]

Seriously, they look great.

Marc, I am speechless about those backdrops! [:D] Outstanding!! [tup] [bow] [tup] Of course, everyone else’s photos look great also!! [8D] For my humble contribution this time I have tried a little different kind of shot. I see prototype “passing” shots on Railpictures.net all the time. ( If you have never visited that site, you need to! It can really help your modeling with good photos of rail equipment of all kinds! ) I set up a “scene” on the layout, adjusted the shutter speed a little, and let the ol’ digital rip! Here are the results!

“UP 8242 has been directed into the siding with his empty coal hoppers, in order for a high priority intermodal train to “run around” on the main…”

“A few moments later, the intermodal comes rocketing past at track speed…”

Wow, Kevin, that Intermodal was FLYING!! Good shots—and I still love that forested mountain of yours.
Marc–I love that backdrop against those gorgeous Rio Grande diesels of yours. BTW, I’ve been there–it’s near Salzburg in Austria, but looks close enough to the Rockies for me, by golly! Beautiful backdrops.

Well, I was going to wait until Weekend Photo Fun (why, I don’t know) but I have to be out of town, so I’ll continue with the saga of the Pioneer Zephyr and her tour of the Rio Grande Sub.
Easing past the “Royal Gorge” at Wagon Wheel Gap

Sunset finds her on Upper Rock Creek Bridge below the Sierra Buttes

At Bassetts, just west of Yuba Pass tunnel.

Returning west the next day in South Yuba Canyon

Passing an eastbound freight in South Yuba Canyon. The crew of the Yellowstone are probably scratching their heads and wondering–“What the HELL is THAT?!”

After her maiden trip, she’s going into regular revenue service between Oakland and Reno.
Tom [:P][:P][:P]

kevnbety,

Now thats how an action shot is done!

All,

Very nice work once again!

You are all SO inspiring!

Kevin, love the “animated” type shots. Good work.

Tom, those are great! The lighting effects are way cool. What type lights are you using?I’ve done a few with a hand held mechanics drop light, need to find something better than that.

Was on vacation this week, so no work on the diarama. I did however get to visit the tennessee valley railroad museum while I was in chattanooga. We are planning on going on the 100 mile fall excursion in october. They also will let you rent and drive your own locomotive. I think that would be cool. Here’s a couple pics of the turntable being used to send the train back to the station.

and of course, had to get my mug on a caboose to put in the train room when I get it started…lol

if you get a chance and are in chattanooga, I would highly recommend going to the tennessee valley rail road museum. medic

Twhite-Those are some great pictures. Did you build your layout like John Allen with floor to cieling scenery? It looks great!!!

Cheese3. Not quite floor to ceiling, though there’s a couple of spots where I’m planning on it. Allen did inspire me quite a bit on the mountains, though. But then, I think John Allen inspired most everyone in one way or another, didn’t he, LOL? But thanks for the compliment, I appreciate it!

Grande Man–those ‘sunset’ shots were taken using an amber flood. Since that section is right at the garage door, I can only photograph it either in the morning or the late afternoon during the summer, as the ‘granite’ on the Sierra Buttes is too bright.
Tom

Hi Guys! Everyones photos look great! Im playing with the trypodto get some good pics

Montana Rail Link Moving a load threw Haddenfeild

I will post more later

Carl…

Okay here is my contribution. I added some more posters to the walls of my room. I have pictures of four of them.

Rio Grande fans should really like the one on the left; B & O fans, the one on the right is an advertisement for the B & O museum.

The poster to the left is a very popular one that I have always wanted, and now have.[:D] The advertisement on the right is the “Start of Service” poster for the Virginia Railway Express.

WOW
AWESOME!!!

Great job everybody
