Okay, here, as promised, are a few of the pix from my super weekend. (To those with dial-up, sorry, there are four pix.) The cab ride in old No. 7 was outstanding, to say the least, as was the actual excursion to the steam Saw Mill later that day. Also here are pictures of the Kinsol Trestle (name is an obscure derivation from the King Solomon copper mine that it was meant to service…went broke in 1906). It was quite unsettling to see this enormous testament to human determination and ingenuity bleached and decrepit in that beautiful gorge. The trestle bridges the Koksilah (coke SIGH lah) river. Estimates of between $3-4M will put it right, but only if it is essentially rebuilt with new lumber. To restore would be $6-8M.
I’ll post others during the weekend…in order to spare those with slower downloading capability. Again, sorry for the large files.
Great pictures everybody!! AC4400fan, you might want to paint the railings on your Athearn DASH 9 (AC4400?) before they start to rust. Or put a clear coating on them to keep them shiny and silvery. I’ve known the railings on my Athearn stuff to rust after a little while, and if they’re left to long they can break very easily. And selector, how did you build that bridge? It looks like it would have taken YEARS![8D]
All is lost in Denver. The first new BNSF logo (gag, gag, hack, gag) equipment has arrived. The only high point is that the UP 844 visited again the same day.
Please tell me if this picture doesn’t come out, to other people, as 350x233 pixels.
Love the pic, bridge especially, and ac4400fan, that’s a gr8 shot, nice car.
Wat’s wrong with BNSF logo? I ain’t a fan of theirs, but there are worse[zzz][zzz][xx(]
great pics, guys–I’m still getting used to my new camera, so here’s a couple I shot of my Balboa GS-4 hauling a Daylight train. Just got back from a spending a week and a half on the Central California Coast near the old SP Coast line, so I got inspired to run my Daylight, natch. Just pretend that Yuba Pass is the Cuesta Grade out of San Luis Obispo, okay, LOL!

Hmmm, thanks for letting me know. My web page editor is obviously not sufficient to change the size of the picture posted on the page. I’ll have to edit them with something else before I post them.
The picture may be huge, but the resolution is excellent!![:)] I don’t see anything wrong with the new logo. But how will they paint their engines now?
The revised BNSF paint scheme is essentially Heritage II with black replacing the dark green and the new logo in black with yellow surround striping…no cigar band on the nose.
