Carl

Carl is that a Bud i see. I would go with Bud light.

Sorry guys no pics here, but Carl, those are some great pics! What type of track are you using?

I wish I had a layout to take pictures of…

I got the mechanism on my IHC Mogul running a little more freely. The electrical contacts that touch the drive wheels were pressing too hard and making it so it didn’t move freely. I also got my Model Power RS-2 cleaned up and running nicely a couple days ago.

Well, I decided to take a pic of my two Yellowstones in the same frame–never have before. Didn’t turn out like I wanted, but here they are, anyway.
Tom

I seem to be having some focus problems with the new camera, even after studying the directions. Anyone got any ideas? Grande Man? Aggro?

Main reason i model “N” Scale, the long consists. I f you look at the topright of the pic you can see the last car in the consist going into the tunnel( Grey Tanker). this train is 34 cars long.

Hi Tom. I’m certainly no photography expert, but I’m wondering if you’re using the cameras self timer and a tripod (or putting the unit on the layout). Any minute movement will cause focus issues.

Also, are you using auto focus or manual? I’d love to have manual focus, it would improve my consistency of taking good pics. As it is, I’m stuck with auto or fixed distance focus.

Holy Particular Board Batman!

Wow, I guess you wanted to add an extenstion. Darn tripled it. Guess you got worse than I thought. Now I knwop why I havent heard from you… Been busy building! [:D] Looks Good!

Hey guys I’m up for some madness!!

Just finished assembly and installation of the fuel pad, I was all set for the photo when a coal train went whizzing thru my shot!!!

I’m actually happy the train got in the way cause my plastic kit skills suck!!

Ken.

Another thing I discovred Tom on the focus side is that you can set it to multipoint focus, which means it will focus all areas of the frame and not just the center/closest item. Maybe you were already aware of this, but it hasnt been mentioned.

Great pic though.

Have fun & be safe
Karl.

Tom great shot!!! keep em comming my friend!!!

Carl…

Karl and Grande Man–I’m using a tripod for the camera. But come to think of it, I think I have it set on auto-focus. I’ll have to take a look. Also–one question. When shooting MR scenes, should I have the “Macro” on or off? I’ve been told to leave the Macro off, and I have. Could that have something to do with it? Most of the focus issues seem to crop up when I use the ‘zoom’. Sometimes it comes out clear, other times it looks like an Impressionist painting. But like I said, I’m still getting used to this new camera. I like it, but it’s sure different than the old 35mm I used to use. Oh well, we’ll see.

BTW, Carl, that’s some wowser of an extension you’re putting on, down there in Arizona. Is that a Budweiser on the table? Next time see if you can find some Pilsner Urquell–you’ll never drink a Bud again as long as you live, LOL!
Tom
Oh, heres a little clearer pic of a ‘borrowed’ Allegheny on Yuba Pass. Wartime emergency and all of that, right?
[:P][:P]

Tom that s great ,as far as i lerned something look at photo clinic posted on here,in the pages ,he realy helps…also look at train wrecks .i posted ,a mis hap there ,lol

Carl…

Hi Tom. Sorry for the brief post last night. It had been a long day at work and I was tired. First off, You’re pics have been fantastic. The new camera has improved the brightness and color so very much. There’s a learning curve to an advanced camera as I learned when I borrowed one from a friend. I think as time goes on you’ll be doing magazine quality photos! Just for general info, for every pic of our layout you guys see, I shoot 20-30 exposures. That’s the beauty of digital! My camera has auto and fixed distance focus. I’ve tried the focus on .5 and 1 meter and actually measured the distance to the models and come up with slightly out of focus pics![?]

As a side note, how would you feel about doing a virtual tour of the Yuba River Sub here?http://www.modelrailroadforums.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=39

I don’t know how you wanted it, Tom, but I like the way it came out.
